How can I pay for appointments and classes?

All appointments and class reservations can be paid for as follows:

  • Cash.
  • EFTPOS / Credit Card.
  • Classes can also be paid for online using the Largs Bay Health & Yoga App via our booking website.
We have HICAPS facilities so claims for treatments can be made direct at the time of payment for therapists that are registered with Private Health Funds. Please contact us if you need confirmation of the registered therapists / treatments.

The quickest way to view the current class schedule and make bookings is using the Largs Bay Health & Yoga App, which is available via the Apple App Store / Google Play or via our booking website.

I'm on medications from the doctor, is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture can be used with most medications. It can assist with management of your overall health, so co-management with your GP is possible.

What happens in a Acupuncture Treatment?

After taking a case history, there is a physical assessment by tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis and abdominal palpation. Treatments are usually conducted with client lying on the massage table. Acupuncture needles are very fine (and completely unlike a syringe!), sterile and single use. Whole consultation process takes 50-55 minutes for an adult.

Do I have to create an account to book an appointment or register for a class?

Yes an account is required however, only minimal information is necessary to open an account.

 

An account can be opened as part of the first appointment making / class registration process and subsequent visits will require login details to be input to complete the booking.

 

Bookings are made as follows:

  • Massage / Personal Training – via the Appointments tab on our booking site.
  • Yoga Introductory Course – via the Workshops tab on our booking site.
  • Yoga & Group Exercise Classes – via the Classes tab on our booking site.

 

When you book / register online, email confirmations and reminders are automatically sent for all bookings to your designated email account.

 

Once an account is opened, the quickest way to make appointments and register for classes is using the MindBody Connect app, which is free from the Apple App Store / Google Play.

Can I reschedule or cancel a booking I have made online or using the Largs Bay Health & Yoga App?

Yes all appointments and class registrations / enrolments made online or using the Largs Bay Health & Yoga App can be rescheduled or cancelled. Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 24 hours before the appointment online. Any rescheduling or cancelling within 24 hours will need to be made by phone and may be subject a rescheduling / cancellation fee.

 

Class reservations can be cancelled up to 1 hour before the class.

What do I wear during a massage?

This will depend on the type of massage treatment. Most of the massages treatments we offer are performed with oil or balm and therefore require the client to undress to underwear or shorts. At all times clients are fully draped with towels, with only the area being treated uncovered at anytime.

Should I obtain Doctor's approval before having a massage?

Generally massage is a safe treatment and does not require Doctor’s approval, however this will depend on your current health status. Approval may be required at your initial consultation or if your health status alters in the future. Some of the conditions where a written Doctors approval may be required include; recent trauma / injury, recent cardio-vascular / neurological disease or event and for certain skin conditions.

 

For Oncology clients who are undergoing treatment, written approval from your Oncologist is required, this is to ensure that the massage treatment does not have an adverse effect on your health or your Oncology treatment.

What do I wear to a yoga class?

Wear a t-shirt or singlet and tights or shorts. Since the emphasis is on precision and alignment of the body, its best to steer away from loose track pants when attending a class. Yoga is practiced with bare feet, so having clean feet is essential.

Can I eat before a yoga class?

It is recommended that main meals not be eaten 2-3 hours before a class. Something light one hour before is acceptable.

Can I attend a yoga class if I have an illness or injury?

Yes however, advise the teacher of the illness or injury before commencement of the class. If you have a significant illness or injury please contact us before attending classes so we can discuss your situation.

Do I have to bring my own yoga mat?

All equipment is provided including mats and props used during the class however, students are welcome to bring their own mats if they prefer to use their own.

Do I have to do an Introductory Course for yoga?

Absolute beginners are advised to do the 8 week Introductory Course. Those with some experience of other styles of yoga can come to Beginner classes. General, Experienced and Relaxation Classes are suitable for existing students only. No prior experience is required to attend the Gentle classes. How often should I come to a yoga class?

As often as you like. At least once a week is recommended. More frequent practice enables students to progress much quicker.

Do I need to book in advance for classes?

Since Introductory Yoga Courses run for a designated 8 week period and space is limited, it is necessary to enrol in these courses. It is also preferred that students register for all other classes classes using the Largs Bay Health & Yoga App or via our online booking web site. The benefit of registering is that reservation confirmations and reminders are sent and in the unlikely event there is a need to re-schedule or cancel a class, students registered will be automatically notified.
